Mold is an important development tool for workpieces and parts. Its performance requirements are closely related to the quality of workpieces and parts during the manufacturing process. Therefore, when manufacturing, we need to pay attention to the following eight major mold manufacturing process performance requirements to avoid causing workpiece or quality damage to parts.

Eight performance requirements for mold manufacturing process:

1. malleability

It has low hot forging deformation resistance, good plasticity, wide forging temperature range, low tendency for forging cracking, cold cracking and precipitation of network carbides.

2. Annealing craftsmanship

The spheroidizing annealing temperature range is wide, the annealing hardness is low, the fluctuation range is small, and the spheroidizing rate is high.

3. Machinability

Large cutting amount, low tool loss, and low machined surface roughness.

4. Sensitivity to oxidation and decarbonization

When heated at high temperatures, it has good oxidation resistance, slow decarburization, is insensitive to the heating medium, and has little tendency to produce pits.

5. Hardening

After quenching, it has uniform and high surface hardness.

6. Hardenability

After quenching, a deeper hardened layer can be obtained, and hardening can be achieved by using a mild quenching medium.

7. Quenching deformation and cracking tendency

Conventional quenching has little volume change, slight shape warping and distortion, and low tendency to abnormal deformation. Conventional quenching has low sensitivity to cracking and is insensitive to quenching temperature and workpiece shape.

8. Grindability

The relative loss of the grinding wheel is small, the grinding amount is large in the no-burn limit, and it is insensitive to the quality of the grinding wheel and cooling conditions, and is not prone to wear damage and grinding cracks.
