Plastic Plating-A complete guide for the maintenance of motorcycle electroplated parts Huizhou City Boluo Tenglong Technology Co., Ltd. wholeheartedly serves you! Mainly engaged in plastic water electroplating processing, accompanying plastic injection molding processing, mold processing and so on! A motorcycle is usually composed of thousands of parts, large and small, of which electroplated parts are an important part. Motorcycle electroplated parts can be divided into two types: metal plated parts and plastic plated parts according to the plating base materials, such as handlebars, fenders, rims, exhaust pipes, etc., which are metal plated base parts; while scooter shells, instruments, trademarks, and vehicle type logos are plastic plated base parts. If the motorcycle plating layer remains intact, the vehicle will appear radiant. On the contrary, if the plated parts have rust, scratches, or dents, the whole vehicle will appear ugly and further affect the riding image of the driver. For example, some luxury large-displacement imported motorcycles, such as trademarks and exhaust pipes, will be very troublesome (because these parts are very difficult to buy). 1. Classification and characteristics of electroplating layers The classification and characteristics of electroplating layers are mainly as follows: electroplating layers can be divided into three categories: protective, decorative and functional according to their functions. 1. Protective coating: As the name suggests, this coating is used to prevent corrosion of products and parts. In the motorcycle production process, zinc plating is usually used to protect the main steel parts. 2. Protection-Decorative coating: This coating is most widely used in motorcycle production technology. The processing process is more complex than protective coating. At least two or more layers must be plated, and some have more. Such as motorcycle mudguards, rims, croissant handlebars, exhaust pipes, etc.; in addition to beautiful appearance, this coating can also prevent corrosion of the main parts. 3. Functional coating: This coating is usually used on the friction surfaces of shaft parts, engine cylinders and piston rings. Chrome plating is generally used to increase the wear resistance of the main parts. 4. Other coatings: When producing tires, in order to increase the adhesion between the steel wire and rubber during hot pressing, the general method is to copper and zinc alloy on the steel wire. Due to different uses, the plated metals are also different. Commonly used metals include zinc, copper, silver, lead, chromium, nickel, black chromium, black nickel, etc. 2. Protection measures for plated parts Most corrosive solutions for electroplating layers are stable in organic acids and can retain luster for a long time. However, the following circumstances will cause corrosion of the plating layer, which requires attention and measures to protect it. 1. Avoid contact with salt, hydrochloric acid, bittern and other substances. Because the coating is easily soluble in the above substances, avoid contact with substances such as 84 disinfectant, bleaching powder, and toilet cleaners. 2. Do not store motorcycles in places where there are gas, briquettes, or soot smoking. This is because carbon monoxide (CO) will cause gray-black network cracks and rust the coating. 3. Pay attention to the wiping method. Normally, you only need to rub neutral engine oil, such as sewing machine oil, on the motorcycle plating layer once a week. Be careful to wipe off the dirt with a soft cloth every time you wipe oil; after driving on rainy days, you should first wipe off the dirt with clean water; then wipe it with a soft cloth, and finally wipe it with engine oil. Do not touch the oil on the paint surface and tires when polishing oil to prevent tarnishing of the paint surface and tire aging. If there is water mist inside the instrument and other coatings, it should be blown dry with a hair dryer before wiping. 4. For the galvanized surface on the car strip, since a dark gray basic zinc carbonate film is formed on the surface, which can effectively prevent the internal metal from being corroded, be careful not to use this dark gray layer of galvanized surface when wiping. Clean and polish the surface, and you can wipe some neutral engine oil to protect it. 5. For wiping plastic plated parts, you can only wipe with a soft cloth dipped in water (warm water), not with engine oil, because that will destroy the coating of the plastic plated parts. 6. For plated parts such as exhaust pipes, mudguards, and rims, you cannot use wire brushes to brush dirt, because the wires of the wire brushes will scratch the plated surface. Use clear water to soak the mud loose and then wipe it according to the above method. If it is not easy to soak, use a wooden stick to gently remove the dirt.
