The basic principle of electroplated parts design.
There are many special design requirements in the design of electroplated parts, which are roughly as follows:
1. The substrate is best made of ABS material, and the adhesion of ABS coating is better, and the price is relatively low.
two.. The surface quality of plastic parts must be very good, electroplating can not cover up some defects of injection, and usually make these defects more obvious.
3. In structural design, there are several points to pay attention to: the shape should be suitable for electroplating treatment:
1) the surface bulge is best controlled in 0.1~0.15mm/cm, with no sharp edges as far as possible.
2) if there is a blind hole design, the depth of the blind hole had better not exceed half of the aperture, responsible for not requiring the color of the bottom of the hole.
3) to use a suitable wall thickness to prevent deformation, it is best to be above 1.5mm and below 4mm. If it needs to be made very thin, a reinforced structure should be made in the corresponding position to ensure that the deformation of electroplating is within a controllable range.
4) the needs of the electroplating process should be taken into account in the design, because the working conditions of electroplating are generally in the temperature range of 60 degrees to 70 degrees, the structure is unreasonable and the deformation can not be avoided under the hanging conditions. therefore, attention should be paid to the position of the nozzle in the design of plastic parts, and at the same time, there should be a suitable hanging position to prevent damage to the required surface during hanging, such as the design of the following figure. The square hole in the middle is specially designed for hanging.
5) when locally spraying insulating ink is needed in the electroplating design, in the case of the picture above, it is actually impossible to achieve the effect shown in the picture (blue and purple represents the electroplating part), because the electroplating part has to form a connected loop in order to form a good electrocoating on each part, and as shown in the figure, each electroplating surface is divided into many parts, unable to achieve uniform electroplating effect.
