Plastic products describe a method of plating chromium on a substrate. The method includes the following steps:
(1) depositing (preferably electrodepositing) a metal layer containing chromium on the substrate, the plating solution contains trivalent chromium and no or almost no hexavalent chromium; (2) a layer of chromium is deposited by physical vapor deposition on the basis of step (1). In a specific example, a layer of chromium is Electrodeposited in a plating bath containing trivalent chromium (containing no or almost no hexavalent chromium) according to step (1).
